Authorities seized assorted Korean luncheon meat products worth P1,040,040 from a warehouse in Barangay Cutcut, Angeles City, Pampanga, on 22 October.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group’s Angeles City Field Unit and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Region 3 conducted the operation over alleged violations of Republic Act 9711, or the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009.

The products were not registered with the FDA and did not meet applicable regulatory requirements, authorities said.

A 17-year-old was found selling or trading the products. The minor, identified as a child in conflict with the law, was documented and turned over to the City Social Welfare and Development Office for appropriate intervention.

A criminal complaint was filed against the warehouse owner, who remains at large.

The CIDG said food products must meet registration and authorization requirements before they can be sold or distributed. It urged consumers to check product labels and verify registration through the FDA Verification Portal at verification.fda.gov.ph.
