Malacañang Palace on Wednesday confirmed that United States President Donald Trump will visit the country during the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and Related Summits this November.

“It’s confirmed. But the details are not coming from us,” said Palace press officer, Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro, in a briefing in Malacañang.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), meanwhile, confirmed that all ASEAN leaders are expected to attend, along with leaders of the ASEAN Plus Three countries — China, Japan and South Korea.

“Although at the moment we are still awaiting receipt of official notification regarding the leaders’ attendance,” the DFA said.

Apart from Trump, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres is also expected to grace the ASEAN-UN Summit.

To recall, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has declared 16 to 18 November as special (non-working) days in the National Capital Region for the 49th Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit and Related Summits.

Trump last visited the Philippines on 12 to 14 November 2017, attending the 31st ASEAN Summit Meeting in Manila during his first presidential term.

President Marcos and the US leader last met face-to-face at the White House in Washington, D.C., on 22 July 2025, to discuss bilateral relations, defense cooperation and trade.

The two leaders subsequently held a telephone conversation on 23 July, during which they discussed economic developments and regional security concerns, including the South China Sea.
