RMBS hosts East Asia Cup 2026

The crack of the bat will once again echo through the storied walls of the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium as Manila hosts the East Asia Cup 2026 presented by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) from 7 to 13 December.
For one week, six nations headlined by host Philippines, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand will converge, turning the historic venue into a hub of competition and sports tourism.
For the first time since its opening in 1934, the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium (RMBS) has undergone a major facelift, a transformation that promises to restore its past grandeur and elevate Philippine baseball to global standards.
“Our objective is to finish the facelift as soon as possible and bring the stadium to global standards,” said PSC chairman Patrick “Pato” Gregorio, noting that the grandstand will be retrofitted to seat 10,000, complemented by a digital scoreboard mounted on the historic outfield wall and an all-weather artificial turf built to international specifications.
“This is about giving Filipino baseball a true home worthy of its history and future.”
Immediately after completion, the stadium will host the East Asia Cup organized by the Philippine Amateur Baseball Association (PABA), sanctioned by the Baseball Federation of Asia.
“This renovation is a turning point for Philippine baseball,” PABA secretary general Mike Asuncion said.
“Hosting the East Asia Cup in a world-class stadium will inspire our athletes and show the region that we are serious about competing at the highest level.”
Asuncion added that the PSC-PABA partnership extends beyond RMBS, with plans to build additional baseball fields nationwide to nurture young talent and expand grassroots development.
The RMBS is a shrine to baseball’s global heritage. In its inaugural exhibition game in December 1934, Lou Gehrig hit the stadium’s first-ever home run, followed by Babe Ruth with the second. Their feats remain etched on the stadium’s walls, reminders of Manila’s place in baseball lore.
