Paulo Avelino’s ‘The Alibi’ portrayal earns Seoul honor

Paulo Avelino’s portrayal of Vincent Cabrera in the mystery-romance series The Alibi has earned him international recognition, with the Filipino actor winning Outstanding Asian Star at the Seoul International Drama Awards 2026 in South Korea.

Avelino secured 43.63 percent of the votes in the global fan poll conducted through the Idol Champ app, earning the distinction for his performance in the series, where he starred opposite Kim Chiu.

The award adds Avelino to the list of Filipino performers who have received the Outstanding Asian Star honor in recent years. Kim Chiu won in 2024, following Belle Mariano in 2022, Kathryn Bernardo in 2023 and Daniel Padilla in 2025.

The Seoul International Drama Awards is held annually in South Korea to recognize television productions and performers from different countries and cultures.

Avelino’s win comes as Filipino series continue to reach audiences overseas through streaming platforms, giving local performers more opportunities to connect with viewers beyond the Philippines.
