‘Gun-toting’ Retired military doctor nabbed
A 65-year-old retired military doctor was arrested after neighbors reported him for allegedly brandishing a long firearm in Sampaloc, Manila, on Friday morning.
Police identified the suspect, who is now under police custody, with the initials “AP,” married, and a resident of Barangay 529, Zone 52.
A concerned citizen personally reported the alleged gun-brandishing incident to the Calabash Police Community Precinct. The incident reportedly occurred in front of the suspect’s residence.
Responding police officers found the suspect inside his house. They sought assistance from Barangay 529 officials, who helped them reach out to Agpoon.
After a lengthy, peaceful conversation, the suspect voluntarily surrendered himself and his firearm, police said.
However, he failed to present the required documents for the firearm when asked by police, prompting his arrest.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act of 2013, will be filed against him before the Manila City Prosecutor’s Office.
