Philippine National Police (PNP) operational units nationwide seized more than P2 billion in illegal drugs and smuggled goods during a monthlong crackdown in September, PNP chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. announced Tuesday.
Police executed 5,045 anti-narcotics operations from 1 to 30 September, resulting in the arrest of 5,812 suspects and the confiscation of illicit drugs valued at P710.66 million.
Seized materials included 96.42 kilograms of methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu, 108.28 kilograms of dried marijuana, and 28,675 marijuana plants.
Parallel operations targeting fugitive tracking led to the accounting of 8,447 wanted individuals, including 2,254 listed as most-wanted felons and 6,193 subjects of outstanding warrants.
“The numbers matter, but what matters more is how we get those results,” Nartatez said in a statement. “We want our people to see police operations that are deliberate, properly coordinated, and grounded on the law.”
In enforcement actions against illegal firearms under Republic Act 10591, officers arrested 979 individuals and recovered, confiscated, or secured 6,381 unlicensed firearms.
