The documents were based on the articles of incorporation and general information sheets of 18 companies in which Duterte and Carpio held shares.
Del Rosario confirmed the same reports were first submitted to the House Committee on Justice, which had filed the impeachment complaints against the Vice President.
Defense lawyer Justin Gular said the SEC did not have access to the Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth of Duterte or any public official, therefore it could not determine if the companies it listed had been declared in Duterte’s SALNs.
Del Rosario affirmed that the information his team prepared was based solely on the House’s request and that his testimony was limited to those records.
The SEC official earlier testified that the companies listed had not declared dividends.
The summaries presented in court showed that Duterte held shares in several corporations and served on the board or executive committees of some of them, including City Hall King Chow Foods Corp. The records indicated that she paid for her share “subscriptions” in the firms even after assuming office in 2022.
Defense questions document preparation
Gular questioned how the CRMD was able to compile and summarize voluminous corporate records in just three days.
Del Rosario said he received the prosecution’s request on 11 September and completed the job on 14 September with the help of five people. Gular noted the prosecution’s figures covered 200 exhibits totaling about 3,000 pages.
“It took only three days for your team of five people to make these documents?” Gular asked.
“That is correct,” Del Rosario replied.
Gular then asked whether the process included examining the documents, entering and typing the data, and reviewing the documents against the figures appearing in the summaries.
Del Rosario again answered in the affirmative.
