A social media post by a 13-year-old student threatening a shooting at Kapingkong National High School (KNHS) in Sultan Kudarat prompted police and social welfare personnel to search for the minor early Monday.

In a report, P/Maj. Jayson Ortega, officer-in-charge of the Lambayong Municipal Police Station, said police received information shortly after midnight from Grade 8 teacher Fareed Guiapal, 28, about a threat to shoot up a school posted on social media.

The post, made under the alias “Jafar,” targeted KNHS and included photos of firearms.

“I’m just here beside your school, KNHS. I’m the one who will shoot tomorrow. Watch out, enemies,” one post in Filipino read.

Another reportedly said: “We will be the ones responsible for the shooting incident in Kapingkong tomorrow. Everyone will be killed. Jafar is with me. We will leave no one alive at Kapingkong National High School,” accompanied by a photo of a long firearm.

Upon receiving the report, Ortega dispatched police personnel together with Catherine Peralta, officer-in-charge of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, to Barangay Matiompong.

At around 1:20 a.m., the team coordinated with Barangay Captain Eduardo M. Duque Jr. and began efforts to locate the student.

Police and social welfare personnel went to the minor’s residence and informed his parents about the alleged threat.

The student was brought to the barangay hall with his guardian and was informed of the potential consequences of his actions, including possible legal liabilities and the disruption of public order.

His guardian was also informed of her responsibilities, while a school representative discussed the possible impact of the incident on the student’s academic status.
