Capital1 continued with its recruitment coup after landing blue-chip setter Julia Coronel as the Solar Spikers beefed up its lineup to chase glory in the coming 10th season of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference.

The two-year-old franchise announced the signing of the Alas Pilipinas playmaker on Thursday through its social media account.

“Welcome, Julia Coronel, to the Capital1 Solar Spikers! Can’t wait to see you in action and light up the court,” the Solar Spikers posted.

The Mandy and Milka Romero-owned club now has a young and steady attacking setter to complement its wing weapons in Bella Belen, Vanie Gandler and Erika Santos.

Although missing out on sought-after playmaker Lams Lamina in the 2026 Rookie Draft, Capital1 landed a deal with Coronel after parting ways with Galeries Tower, which selected her as third overall pick in the 2024 Draft.

The Highrisers selected Lamina as No. 1 overall pick, while the Solar Spikers took libero Detdet Pepito at No. 2.  

Coronel’s addition also deepened the Jorge Souza De Brito-mentored Solar Spikers’ setter rotation with veterans Jasmine Nabor and Jaja Maraguinot.

The De La Salle University product is expected to gel well with the team and is very familiar with Alas teammates Belen and Gandler.

Capital1 has yet to get past the quarterfinals after six conferences.

The Solar Spikers are out to go deeper this time as they open their campaign against Choco Mucho on 10 October at the SM Seaside Cebu Arena.
