DPWH alerts public against solicitation scheme

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on Wednesday warned the public against scammers posing as agency officials to solicit money.
The DPWH issued the advisory after receiving reports that an individual has been introducing himself as Engineer Kenneth Edward Fernando, the officer-in-charge of the DPWH Bulacan 1st District Engineering Office, to ask for cash from unsuspecting victims.
“The public is reminded that the DPWH does not ask for money in exchange for favors or services, and to avoid making transactions with persons who pose as officials and personnel of the DPWH without proper verification,” the agency said in an official statement.
The public works department urged citizens to verify credentials and report any suspicious messages or extortion attempts through its hotlines and official communication channels.
