Veteran star Myla Pablo couldn’t help but get sentimental about being one of the pioneer stars still active as the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) enters its 10th season.

The PVL’s first Finals Most Valuable Player following its rebranding in December 2016 has been a regular fixture in the highly competitive league.

From leading Pocari Sweat to the throne, powering Motolite, winning titles with Petro Gazz, donning the F2 Logistics colors, to leading young team Nxled, the 33-year-old winger was just grateful for the opportunity to make a living and enjoy the sport she loves through the PVL.  

“I’ve been in the PVL for 10 years. I’m really happy that I’m still here, still have a team and very much healthy,” said the four-time PVL champion.

Pablo led Pocari Sweat to winning the 2017 Reinforced Conference title and won three more with Petro Gazz before it took a leave of absence last year. 

The National University product transferred to the Chameleons and helped the three-year-old young club to a breakthrough runner-up finish in the season-opening Invitational Conference.

Pablo also witnessed the PVL’s transition from a commercial amateur league to the country’s first and only women’s professional volleyball league.

“It’s a huge privilege for me to witness and be a part of the growth of the PVL. I’m very happy about that. From the V-League to the PVL. Seeing the volleyball community give their warmest support to all the teams,” the two-time Conference MVP said.

Along with the likes of Creamline’s Alyssa Valdez and Michele Gumabao, Akari’s Grethcel Soltones and ZUS Coffee tandem of Jov Gonzaga and Rachel Anne Daquis, Pablo has been one of the league’s pillars and crowd-drawers through the years.
