CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The Philippine Army’s 4th Infantry Division has deployed additional troops to help secure the parliamentary elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao on Monday, 14 September.

Personnel from the 29th and 30th Infantry Battalions were formally sent off Saturday, 12 September, at the 4ID Grandstand.

The 29th Infantry Battalion will be deployed to Barangay Sagunsungan in Marawi City, while the 30th Infantry Battalion will be stationed in Tubod, Lanao del Norte.

Maj. Gen. Marion T. Angcao, commander of the 4ID, reminded the troops to maintain professionalism, discipline and impartiality, and to strictly follow the law while performing their duties.

He also directed personnel to remain nonpartisan throughout the election period.

The 4ID earlier deployed the 75th Infantry Battalion on 15 July to Hill 150 in Barangay Meta, Datu Unsay, Maguindanao del Sur.

The 3rd Special Forces Battalion was also deployed on 2 September to the headquarters of the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade in Barangay Maria Cristina, Iligan City, Lanao del Norte, along with an armor platoon equipped with four wheeled armored vehicles.

The Army said the deployments form part of its continuing support for government agencies in maintaining peace and security before, during and after the elections.

Angcao said the deployment underscores the division’s commitment to protecting the democratic process and ensuring voters can exercise their rights freely and safely.

“Our troops are prepared to perform their duties with professionalism, impartiality, and respect for the rights of every voter. We will continue to work closely with the Philippine National Police, Commission on Elections, local government units, and other stakeholders to help ensure peaceful and credible election,” he said.
