CEBU CITY — The Department of Health in Central Visayas (DoH-7) and the Cebu Provincial Health Office (PHO) have recorded 3,268 dengue cases in Cebu Province from January to August 2026, involving patients aged two months to 93 years.

Males accounted for the majority of the cases, according to the health agencies.

Cebu Provincial Health Office chief Dr. Shiela Faciol told the DAILY TRIBUNE that the areas with the highest number of cases were Talisay City, Medellin, Toledo City, Consolacion, Minglanilla, Cordova and Dalaguete.

Faciol said areas with larger populations tend to record more cases because population density is closely linked to the surrounding environment and the availability of places where mosquitoes can breed.

The Cebu provincial government activated dengue fast lanes in its four provincial and 12 district hospitals in July to provide quicker medical attention to dengue patients.

Meanwhile, neighboring Bohol declared a dengue outbreak after recording 2,217 cases and 20 deaths in August.
