Seven individuals were arrested in separate anti-illegal gambling operations in Bangar and Bauang, La Union, on September 6, 2026, for allegedly playing card games with money bets in violation of Presidential Decree No. 1602.

In Bangar, four men were arrested by personnel of the Bangar Municipal Police Station and the 103rd Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 1 during an operation conducted from 3:30 p.m. to 4:05 p.m.

The suspects were a 34-year-old construction worker, a 33-year-old unemployed man, a 48-year-old tailor, and a 56-year-old blacksmith. All four are residents of Bangar, La Union.

Police said the suspects were caught in the act of playing Lucky 9 with money bets. Authorities confiscated one set of playing cards and ₱1,390 in bet money in various denominations.

The four suspects and the confiscated evidence were brought to the Bangar MPS for proper disposition.

Meanwhile, in Bauang, three women were arrested at around 4 p.m. after personnel of the Bauang MPS conducted an anti-illegal gambling operation.

The suspects were a 43-year-old married housewife, a 34-year-old single sales lady, and a 73-year-old widowed STL bet collector. All three are residents of Bauang, La Union.

Police said the women were caught playing tong-its, a card game, with money bets.

Confiscated during the operation were one deck of Condor playing cards containing 50 cards, four monoblock chairs, one plastic table and ₱1,065 in bet money in various denominations.

The suspects and the confiscated evidence were brought to the Bauang MPS for proper disposition.

The arrests were made under Presidential Decree No. 1602, which penalizes illegal gambling activities.
