National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) officer-in-charge Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano on Monday dismissed social media posts claiming major changes to police shift schedules, calling the reports entirely false.

Abrahano disclosed that investigators have identified a person of interest behind viral claims that police officers would work a “one-week duty, two-weeks off” schedule alongside a revised eight-hour rotation.

“It is entirely false and does not reflect any officially implemented policy,” Abrahano said, noting that police operate under established shift regulations.

“There is no truth to that,” Abrahano said.

“We have already ordered an investigation. Our police force has existing regulations regarding shifts and the number of duty hours. There is no such thing as a one-week off arrangement, especially when we are already short-staffed,” he added.

Abrahano expressed frustration over the misinformation, calling it unfair to officers who work long hours to maintain public safety.

“Our police officers are exhausted from working, yet they persevere,” Abrahano said. “It is disheartening that someone would spread claims about a one-week break. It is unfair to our hard-working personnel.”

Investigators are building a case against the individual responsible, who could face administrative or legal consequences once evidence is finalized.

“We have leads and a person of interest,” Abrahano said. “We want to ensure accountability and teach a lesson so this does not happen again.”

He added that the individual initially claimed to have merely reposted the content, but stressed that higher standards of responsibility apply if the culprit is confirmed to be an active police officer.
