    • #ObetPH

Typhoon #ObetPH entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Monday afternoon and was classified by PAGASA as a “near-super typhoon.”

As of 11 a.m. Monday, #ObetPH was located 1,480 kilometers east-northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon, packing maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour near the center.

The typhoon also had gustiness of up to 215 kph, placing it in the “near-super typhoon” category, according to the weather bureau.

PAGASA monitored #ObetPH inside the PAR at 1:20 p.m. and continued to closely track its movement as it developed.

The weather bureau advised the public to monitor its updates starting at 5 p.m. Monday.

Despite #ObetPH being unlikely to make direct landfall in the Philippines, PAGASA continued to monitor two other tropical cyclones outside the PAR.

Gaeneri, formerly known as “Neneng,” was monitored 505 kilometers north-northwest of Itbayat, Batanes, while Tropical Storm Atsani was located 1,325 kilometers east of southeastern Luzon.

PAGASA reminded the public to remain vigilant as the tropical cyclones persist and enhance the southwest monsoon affecting parts of Northern and Central Luzon.
