  • The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) recorded increases in the water levels of Angat Dam and four other reservoirs, ranging from 0.08 to 0.63 meter over the past 24 hours.

In its latest dam update as of 8 a.m. Sunday, 23 August, PAGASA recorded a water level of 191.10 meters in Angat Dam in Norzagaray, Bulacan, up by 0.63 meter from 190.47 meters on Saturday.

Next to Angat Dam is Ipo Dam, also in Norzagaray, Bulacan, which rose by 0.32 meter to 100.44 meters, while Ambuklao Dam in Bokod, Benguet, increased by 0.11 meter to 751.69 meters.

Pantabangan Dam in Nueva Ecija also rose by 0.45 meter to 190.29 meters with Caliraya Dam in Lumban, Laguna, increased by 0.08 meter to 286.48 meters.

    Slight drop in other dams

PAGASA, however, noted water level declines in the four remaining dams monitored by the state weather bureau.

A 0.06-meter decrease in La Mesa Dam’s water level in Quezon City was recorded, from 79.36 meters on Saturday to 79.30 meters on Sunday.

Meanwhile, other dams recorded slight decreases, including Binga Dam in Itogon, Benguet (0.23 meter), San Roque Dam in San Manuel, Pangasinan (0.27 meter) and Magat Dam in Ramon, Isabela (0.13 meter) respectively.

Despite fluctuations in water levels, all monitored reservoirs remained below their respective normal high water levels (NHWLs), with PAGASA not providing an NHWL for Caliraya Dam in its recent update.
