Gilas Pilipinas Women absorbed a 38-85 beating at the hands of mighty Canada in the FIBA Olympic Pre-qualifying Tournament on Thursday at the Astros Arena in Guadalajara, Mexico.
The Filipinas were limited to just 11 points in the first half as the unbeaten world No. 7 Canadians controlled the lopsided match right from the get-go, securing a semifinals spot with their second straight win.
Jack Animam was the lone bright spot for Gilas Women, who are now on the brink of elimination with a 0-2 win-loss record in Group B, after tallying 11 points, eight rebounds, four assists and one steal in nearly 30 minutes of harrowing experience on the floor.

The Canadians seek a group stage sweep against Mexico on Friday.
