Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC) received four honors from Santa Rosa City for environmental programs tied to its manufacturing operations.

The carmaker was recognized at the recent Guarantee the Restoration of the Environment and our Ecological Niche Awards, which is known as the GREEN Awards. The city government holds the annual program to recognize public and private organizations that support environmental protection and climate action.

MMPC received the Special Award of Recognition for Environmental Sustainability and Stewardship, Sustainable Development Award, Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Award and Earth Hour Advocate Award.

The awarding ceremony was held at the City of Santa Rosa Multi-Purpose Complex in Barangay Tagapo. Santa Rosa Mayor Arlene Arcillas led the program with the City Environment and Natural Resources Office, which is headed by Engr. Amor Salandanan.

The awards cover efforts to cut carbon emissions and use natural resources responsibly. Energy efficiency and environmental awareness within workplaces and communities are also part of the program.

MMPC said its citations were tied to measures that include environmental practices in its manufacturing operations. The carmaker also said these efforts go further than regulatory requirements, although its release did not provide details of the programs assessed by the city.

The MMPC delegation was led by Manufacturing executive vice president Manabu Higuchi and Manufacturing senior vice president Reynaldo Gabay. Safety, health and environment vice president Marfel Ancheta and Government affairs vice president Victor Vinarao also represented the company.

The city government used the ceremony to call for closer cooperation among local offices and the private sector. Community groups and residents were also encouraged to support environmental programs.

Santa Rosa officials said lasting progress depends on continued participation from those who operate and live in the city. The awards give the local government a way to recognize organizations that have supported its environmental work.

MMPC said it will continue to improve its environmental performance and support programs that protect natural resources. It also linked responsible manufacturing with long-term economic growth and community development.
