Tweetie uses a marble base for the lamp to highlight the catch-all tray feature.

Tweetie de Leon- Gonzales remains the definitive avatar of timeless Filipino elegance, effortlessly bridging the gap between high-fashion runways and the curated realm of structural art. Long celebrated for her distinct mastery of wearable jewelry and accessories, the modeling icon expands her lifestyle empire by turning her sights to the poetic interplay of light and shade. “These table lamps mark my very first foray into lighting design,” Gonzales shares, noting how a Milan product design course opened a thrilling new chapter that blends the romance of structural form with functional home artistry.

Her debut creation, aptly named Luna, is a sculptural bedside fixture that beautifully marries heavy materials with a delicate silhouette. The piece features a clear glass globe in white or smoked variations, resting on a hollowed-out marble base that serves as a functional catch-all tray for bedside treasures. “I decided to conceptualize a bedside lamp which would address functional and aesthetic requirements,” she explains of the geometric form. Driven by an innate curiosity for atmospheric geometry, she adds, “I am quite fascinated by how light affects a space and the dramatic, at times playful, shadows it creates.”

Luna is intentionally curated for contemporary spaces, appealing to design-conscious individuals who treat illumination as a statement rather than a domestic afterthought. It acts as an artistic anchor, balancing clean lines with the ethereal, cratered beauty of a quiet night. As Gonzales perfectly notes, “Exploring my curiosity about lamp design lit up a new creative energy.” Ultimately, true design does not merely occupy a room; it commands the atmosphere, beautifully transforming a practical necessity into a piece of living, breathing art.

Luna will be available at MaArte on 13 to 16 August at room 512 The Peninsula Manila, Makati City.
