  • The Police Regional Office 1 (PRO 1) seized more than P1.06 million worth of suspected illegal drugs and arrested six individuals, including two drug suspects and four wanted persons, during a series of anti-drug and manhunt operations in Pangasinan, La Union, and Ilocos Sur on 5 and 6 August.

The operations were conducted under the Philippine National Police's Enhanced A.L.E.R.T.O. Framework, according to PRO 1.

The largest drug haul was recorded on 5 August in Pozorrubio, Pangasinan, where police arrested a street-level drug suspect and recovered around 92 grams of suspected illegal drugs worth P625,600.

A follow-up buy-bust operation on Aug. 6 in Calasiao, Pangasinan resulted in the arrest of a high-value drug suspect after authorities seized around 64.38 grams of suspected illegal drugs valued at P437,784.

The two suspects will face charges for violations of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, PRO 1's manhunt operations led to the arrest of four wanted persons, including three suspects facing non-bailable rape charges.

In Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan, police arrested the Top 7 Regional Most Wanted Person, who is facing multiple counts of qualified rape of a minor.

Authorities in Balaoan, La Union also arrested the Top 8 Regional Most Wanted Person for qualified rape, while the Top 1 City Most Wanted Person of San Carlos City, Pangasinan was apprehended on two warrants for rape.

In Candon City, Ilocos Sur, police arrested the city's Top 5 Most Wanted Person, who is facing a qualified sexual assault case with recommended bail set at P200,000.

PRO 1 Regional Director PBGen. Jovencio S. Badua Jr. credited the successful operations to the efforts of police units and said the regional police force would continue intensifying campaigns against illegal drugs and wanted individuals.

"Every successful operation reflects our continuing commitment to keep our communities safe," Badua said.
