Subic Bay Freeport – The Department of Agriculture-Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) Central Luzon is pushing for the implementation of P372-million worth of enterprise investments to sustain the gains from the original PRDP across Central Luzon.

During the Assessment and Planning Workshop held at the Travelers Hotel in this Freeport on 30 to 31 of July 2026, the DA PRDP made the announcement to ensure the timely implementation of the investments under the PRDP Scale-Up initiative.

Through its I-REAP or enterprise development component, the DA-PRDP Central Luzon Regional Project Coordination Office (RPCO 3) conducted the said workshop that brought together project personnel and partner LGUs to review the progress of ongoing enterprise subprojects under the PRDP Scale-Up and assess the performance of completed enterprises under the Original PRDP.

The activity served as a strategic platform to strengthen subproject monitoring, identify implementation priorities, and ensure that enterprise investments are delivered efficiently for the benefit of farmer cooperatives and rural communities.

Currently, Central Luzon has three approved enterprise subprojects under the PRDP Scale-Up, implemented in partnership with farmer cooperatives in Nueva Ecija and supported by their respective local government units.

Among the ongoing investments, the Villa Bar Primary Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) in Llanera continues to post significant progress with the 66 percent completion of its aromatic rice processing facility. Farm vehicles and machinery have already been delivered, while the procurement of rice milling equipment is underway.

Meanwhile, the Eastern PMPC in San Jose City is steadily advancing its carabao dairy processing enterprise, recording 16 percent physical accomplishment for its processing facility. Hauling and delivery vehicles have already been turned over, while the procurement of dairy processing equipment is currently in progress.

The Kalasag Multi-Purpose Cooperative (MPC), also in San Jose City, has likewise moved forward with its onion cold storage enterprise, which is now in the procurement stage for the construction of its facility.

Beyond tracking ongoing investments, the workshop also highlighted the vital role of LGUs in ensuring the long-term sustainability of completed enterprise subprojects.

Partner LGUs presented monitoring updates on enterprises implemented under the Original PRDP, demonstrating their continued commitment to supporting farmer cooperatives through post-project supervision, technical assistance, and institutional collaboration.

By strengthening coordination between DA-PRDP and local government partners, the initiative reinforces a shared commitment to delivering high-impact enterprise investments that enhance agricultural productivity, improve market access, and create more sustainable livelihood opportunities for farmers and rural communities across Central Luzon.
