  • Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso put an end to rumors regarding a potential bid for national office in 2028, announcing that he intends to run for reelection as mayor of the nation's capital.

Domagoso made the confirmation during a media forum when asked about his plans for the 2028 national and local elections.

"Yes, I will run in 2028," Domagoso said. "I will run for mayor of Manila again."

Speculation about Domagoso's political ambitions had intensified on social media in recent months, fueled by his frequent public events hosting President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos in Manila.

The former actor lost his 2022 presidential bid, after which he took a three-year hiatus from politics to return to show business as a television host.

He launched a successful comeback in the recent local elections, winning a three-way mayoral race following public calls for his return to City Hall.

Following his election victory, Domagoso promised residents he would not leave the capital again, pledging to focus on urban renewal under his campaign pillar to restore Manila's prominence.
