The Police Regional Office 2 (PRO2) recently concluded its Tourist-Oriented Police for Community Order and Protection (TOPCOP) Seminar, with Regional Director Brig. Gen. Mariano C. Rodriguez reminding graduates that their primary responsibility remains law enforcement and public safety.
The closing ceremony was held at the Isabela Museum and Library in Ilagan City.
Rodriguez congratulated the participants for completing the training and said the role of tourist police goes beyond assisting visitors.
“The bottom line of these tasks is always law enforcement — the prevention and control of crime. With the support, collaboration and coordination of the different sectors of the community, we can fulfill our mission,” Rodriguez said.
He urged the graduates to apply the knowledge and skills they acquired during the seminar to help improve tourist safety and maintain Region 2 as a secure destination for local and foreign visitors.
The TOPCOP seminar forms part of PRO2’s continuing effort to strengthen the capabilities of police personnel assigned to tourist destinations through specialized training in public safety, community engagement and visitor assistance.
According to PRO2, the program also supports the Philippine National Police’s campaign to promote service-oriented, community-focused policing while helping ensure a safe environment for the region’s tourism industry.
