Two members of a communist terrorist group (CTG) were neutralized during an armed encounter between them and the military at Barangay Del Pilar in the town of Naujan, Oriental Mindoro on 29 July 2026.
According to 203rd Infantry Brigade Commander Brig Gen Melencio Ragudo, one of the two members who was killed during the encounter was identified as Ka Aira, while the other fatality is still being identified.
Two high-powered firearms were recovered from the two suspects while another woman was turned over to the Barangay after the encounter. Ragudo said that the woman is a civilian and was caught in the cross fire, she was initially thought a member since she was wearing black.
Her husband, a retired official of the Philippine National Police, retrieved the female civilian after she was turned over to the Barangay.
Recovered from the scene were improvised explosive device (IED), food, and other personal items, as the soldiers continue to pursue the remaining members of the CTG they encountered at the said area.
The report stated that there were around 10 members of the Kilusang Larangang Gerilya Ignacio Calavria Magadia (KLG-ICM) that the military encountered. The said rebel group is led by Ka Floro or Duralite.
