Jerick Ahanmisi is slowly but surely getting his rhythm back and playing more comfortably with San Miguel Beer.

Already settled in since his trade from Terrafirma during the offseason, Ahanmisi had a breakout game in the Beermen’s 143-105 rout of Titan Ultra in a convincing rebound win in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Season 50 Governors’ Cup on Wednesday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Ahanmisi unloaded 26 points on a 10-of-15 field goal shooting, including a 4-of-8 clip from the three-point area and 1-of-2 from the four-point arc, as San Miguel improved to a 4-1 win-loss record.

“I think today was a good showing for me, just because of the way I’ve been playing. And I kind of hold a high standard to myself, and the past couple games, I haven’t been playing at my best,” the 28-year-old streaky scorer said.

Ahanmisi went perfect 5-of-5 from the field, including two triples, in the opening period, which set the tone for the Beermen to take control.

The reigning All-Star Obstacle Challenge and Three-Point Shootout champion rebounded from a two-point outing in San Miguel’s loss to unbeaten NLEX in the previous outing.

“So, today, I’m just glad that I found my rhythm early, and that I was able to also get my teammates involved,” added Ahanmisi, who before the win averaged 8.0 points in his first four outings in a Beermen uniform.

“So, today was a good showing for me, and I just gotta keep it rolling.”

Ahanmisi was shipped to San Miguel along with Paolo Hernandez in a trade with the Dyip for Juami Tiongson and rookie Chris Miller.

Ahanmisi credited his fellow Adamson University product, rookie Royce Mantua, for helping him get comfortable with his new team.

“He’s the one I sit next to practice every day. So, me and him had gotten kind of close,” he said.

“I just been able to talk to him every day. And he’s been making San Miguel comfortable for me.”
