The Southern Police District (SPD) on Monday served an arrest warrant on a 29-year-old man facing a carnapping charge while he was detained at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) facility in Las Piñas City.
The suspect, identified only by the alias "Aries," is a resident of Barangay Bayanan, Muntinlupa City.
Operatives from the SPD District Special Operations Unit, District Intelligence Division, District Mobile Force Battalion, and District Anti-Carnapping Unit served the warrant at around 3:40 p.m. inside the BJMP facility in Barangay Pamplona III, where the accused is currently detained.
The warrant was issued on July 6 by the Regional Trial Court Branch 101 in Santa Rosa, Laguna, for alleged violation of the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016 (Republic Act No. 10883). The court recommended bail at P300,000.
The accused remains under the custody of the BJMP in Las Piñas pending the return of the warrant to the issuing court.
