A female motorcycle rider died after crashing into a stationary truck along Felix Avenue, local police said.

Surveillance footage showed the truck stopping to yield to another motorcycle crossing a pedestrian lane in front of it.

Moments later, a speeding motorcycle struck the rear right side of the truck, throwing the female rider.

The collision destroyed the motorcycle and left the victim's helmet caught on the back of the truck. Emergency responders brought the rider to a hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.

Although police cited the crash appears to be a self-accident, authorities took the truck driver into custody.

"We referred the case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property against the truck driver," said police chief Master Sgt. Rodel Asyao, the lead investigator for the Cainta Municipal Police Station.

"As a standard operating procedure, that is what we do. We let the prosecution make the decision," he added.

Asyao cited that while some questioned why the truck stopped in that area, the driver acted correctly to avoid hitting the motorcycle in front of him.

The truck driver maintained he bears no responsibility for the fatality.
