An armed man was arrested after allegedly resisting police officers responding to a disturbance in Barangay Bangkal, Makati City, early Saturday.

At about 12:15 a.m., personnel of the Makati City Police Station’s Sub-Station 4 were conducting an anti-criminality patrol along Osmeña Highway corner Cailles Street, when a concerned citizen reported a man throwing rocks at passing vehicles, endangering motorists and pedestrians.

Responding officers found the suspect shouting aggressively, challenging passersby and causing a public disturbance.

Police said they identified themselves and attempted to peacefully pacify the suspect while exercising maximum tolerance.

However, the man allegedly became hostile, verbally abused the officers and ignored repeated lawful orders, prompting his arrest for violation of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code, or resistance and disobedience to a person in authority.

A search of the suspect’s black backpack yielded a .38-caliber revolver without a serial number, loaded with one live round.

The discovery of the unlicensed firearm resulted in an additional charge for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

The suspect, identified only by the alias “Armando,” 29, a resident of Taguig City, is now under the custody of the Makati City Police Station while charges are being prepared for inquest before the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office.
