Dear Atty. Joji,

One of the greatest gifts we can ever give a child is safety.
Pag-IBIG Fund has released P5.82 billion under its Special Assistance for Financial Emergencies (SAFE) Loan program, benefiting 803,769 members in less than six weeks since its launch on 10 June.
The emergency loan program was introduced as part of the government's efforts to provide affordable financial assistance to Filipino workers affected by the continuing tensions in the Middle East.
Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling, who chairs the Pag-IBIG Fund Board of Trustees, said the program supports President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s directive for government agencies to deliver more responsive public services.
Under the SAFE Loan, eligible active members with at least 12 monthly savings may borrow up to ₱10,000 or up to 90 percent of their total Pag-IBIG Regular Savings, whichever is lower. The loan carries a 5.95 percent annual interest rate, is payable in 12, 24 or 36 months, and includes a three-month grace period before repayment begins.
Members may apply through Virtual Pag-IBIG or at any Pag-IBIG branch nationwide, with loan proceeds credited directly to their Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card Plus or LandBank Cash Card.
Pag-IBIG Fund Chief Executive Officer Marilene Acosta said the strong uptake reflects the agency's commitment to helping members address immediate financial needs while continuing to offer affordable housing loans below prevailing market rates.
She added that members needing additional assistance may also apply for the agency's Multi-Purpose Loan, provided they still have remaining loanable amounts based on their regular savings.
Applications for the SAFE Loan will remain open until 8 September 2026.
