CYNTHIA D. BALANA·26 August 2026

  • The Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) is expanding its job placement programs and regional wage review mechanisms to strengthen the resilience of the local workforce, Labor Secretary Francis N. Tolentino announced.

Highlighting recent improvements in national underemployment figures, Tolentino said the agency is continuing to fulfill President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directives from his 2025 State of the Nation Address to generate higher-quality employment opportunities for Filipino workers.

"Nearly 38 percent of applicants were hired immediately, which is why we call them "Trabaho Agad" Fairs," Tolentino said in an interview, referencing the high placement rates at recent hiring events.

The Labor chief added that the department plans to hold at least two or three more large-scale job fairs before the end of the year, focusing specifically on regions heavily affected by recent natural disasters.

Tolentino also expressed confidence that the president's international missions are yielding tangible results for local employment.
