We’re both happy and sad for GMA-7’s A-lister and homegrown talent, Jillian Ward. Happy because she’s finally been given her first major concert to prove her mettle as a singer. Not everyone is given the chance to perform at a major concert venue. Ward is a very hardworking Kapuso talent, and she deserves all the big breaks coming her way.
But we’re sad that the highly anticipated show was rescheduled from 31 July to 8 December, still at the New Frontier Theater in Cubao.
In a statement, concert director Marvin Caldito II announced that the postponement was due to “unforeseen circumstances.”
“With this additional time, we are fully committed to making every moment of the wait worthwhile. We promise to deliver a bigger, better and more unforgettable concert experience — one that will truly exceed expectations and give our audience the show they deserve,” Caldito explained.
Netizens reacted to the statement as they collectively believed that Ward is not yet ready for her first major concert, offering various reasons.
“Ang daming years na binuild up si Jillian as one of GMA’s biggest stars, pero hirap pa ring makabenta ng concert tickets. Laki ng disconnect between network hype and actual market demand (It took many years to build up Jillian as one of GMA’s biggest stars, but it’s hard to sell concert tickets. There is a great disconnect between network hype and actual market demand).”
“Concert was announced back in April pa, so that’s almost three months of selling. Tapos two weeks before the supposed concert date, wala pa ring sold-out na tier.”
“Bad timing to suddenly postpone an event during the second half of the year. June pa lang, booked na lahat ng ber-month events eh (As early as June, all ber-month events are already booked).”
“Was rooting for her to thrive as a performance artist, but that AI music video her team released put me off, honestly. Her management needs to realize that she needs to build a solid body of work first before approving project proposals like this.”
James Reid feels lucky working
with Kathryn Bernardo
Working for the first time with Kathryn Bernardo in ABS-CBN’s upcoming primetime series Someone, Someday is something James Reid cherishes.
“I think, luckily, there weren’t too many adjustments to working with a different lead actress. I think the experience itself is different — how Kath and I put together these new characters and tried to come up with something very new that people haven’t seen yet,” Reid initially said during his solo press conference for the series.
But he did admit to Kathryn that he was nervous when they first started taping together for the series.
“I actually told Kath when we first started working, ‘I’m so nervous. I actually haven’t worked with another leading lady.’ And then she was like, ‘It’s okay, I know how you feel.’ At least we’re on the same page,” he related.
Reid also praised Maja Salvador, whom he’s also working with for the first time.
“Working with Kath and Maja, I was amazed. I was actually very grateful for how hands-on Kath was with the script, storytelling and the characters.”
“And Maja, the character she plays isn’t easy. The way she has to weave herself into the story is quite complicated,” the actor continued. “So working with the two of them is very inspiring to me. I’m treating this project as a lesson, learning all over again. So I’m super grateful that I get to work with two titans in the industry. I consider myself very lucky,” he said.
Reid also admitted he was nervous about his teleserye comeback. His last series was On the Wings of Love, a decade ago.
“To be honest, I was very, very nervous. Kasi I felt all of the nerves, the pressure, kasi ito ’yung comeback project ko.”
“It’s also Kathryn’s comeback to teleseryes, even Maja, even direk Chad… So many firsts, so many comebacks, and I was super nervous. I really felt the nerves. I think everybody felt it, not just me.”
“Luckily, it’s been a great experience working with Kathryn and Maja… Siyempre with direk Chad and direk Dolly, they made it such a collaborative, welcoming experience. To my Dreamscape family, thank you so much for welcoming me back home with such open arms. It feels like I never really left.”
‘The Loyalty Game’ is most-watched
The Loyalty Game has captivated viewers on Prime Video Philippines, topping the streaming platform’s most-watched list since 12 July.
ABS-CBN Studios and Prime Video’s latest collaboration has captured the attention of viewers in the Philippines and abroad, ranking among the most-watched shows in the United Arab Emirates.
In the latest episodes, Ana (Janine Gutierrez) once again stopped Beth (Sofia Andres) from conducting another loyalty test on her husband, Ben (Jericho Rosales), believing that he may not be cheating on her despite his mysterious actions.
Gutierrez shared that portraying Ana allowed her to discover the different sides of her character. Rosales, meanwhile, described Ben as one of the most challenging characters he has portrayed.
“The character scared me. I think gray characters are the most interesting characters to play,” he shared.
