Messi ignites Argentina’s great escape; Swiss advance
Jude Bellingham scored twice as England came from behind to defeat Norway 2-1, booking a FIFA World Cup semifinal showdown with Lionel Messi's Argentina.
Norway struck first in the 36th minute when Andreas Schjelderup curled home from the edge of the box. England, however, responded before halftime as Anthony Gordon set up Bellingham for the equalizer.
Bellingham completed the comeback after Norway goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland parried Harry Kane's effort into his path, allowing the Real Madrid midfielder to score the winner.
Despite a composed performance from captain Martin Ødegaard, Norway failed to capitalize on its chances as England controlled much of the possession.
The final whistle was followed by England supporters singing "Hey Jude" around the stadium in celebration.
England manager Thomas Tuchel admitted he was dissatisfied with his team's display in possession despite the victory, while Bellingham brushed aside the criticism, saying, "It doesn't matter."
The Three Lions advance to the semifinals, where they will face defending champions Argentina.
