BAGUIO CITY — Based on the latest data from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Cordillera, several roads across the region remain either closed or have limited access, posing risks to motorists.
In Benguet, the Baguio-Itogon Road in Sitio Goldfield, Barangay Poblacion, Itogon, is currently impassable. Motorists are advised to take the Ucab-Midas Road as an alternate route. Meanwhile, Pico Bridge 2 along the Pico-Lamtang Road is limited to one lane due to cracks found in its girders.
Apayao reported widespread disruptions, with several bridges restricted to light vehicles only. Along the Apayao-Ilocos Norte Road, Bunot Bridge 2 in Barangay Tanglagan and Ayayao Bridge in Barangay Eva are limited to light vehicles because of damaged abutment slopes and scoured footings. Road slips have also reduced traffic to one lane in intermittent sections of Barangays Parina, Tanglagan, Eva, Namaltugan, Tubungan, and Butao.
The Claveria-Calanasan-Kabugao Road is also limited to light vehicles at Sugoc Bridge in Barangay Ninoy due to a scoured approach slab. One lane remains open in portions of Barangays Santa Elena, Eva, Naguillian, Eleazar, Ferdinand, Kabugawan, and Namaltugan.
Pudtol Bridge in Barangay Emilia along the Kabugao-Pudtol-Luna-Cagayan Boundary Road is likewise restricted to light vehicles, while road slips have narrowed traffic to one lane in Barangays Aurora and Lower Maton.
Meanwhile, the Ayaga-Santa Marcela-Flora-Lasam Road has been reduced to one lane in sections of Barangays Bagutong and Malayugan in Flora.
In Kalinga, strict weight and clearance restrictions remain in effect. The Makilo Bailey Bridge in Barangay Bugnay, Tinglayan, along the Mountain Province Boundary-Calanan-Abbut Road, is limited to vehicles weighing five tons or less, while long-bodied vehicles are prohibited from crossing.
On Manuel S. Agyao Boulevard, Aliog Bridge in Barangay Nambaran, Tabuk City, is also restricted to vehicles weighing up to five tons and with a maximum vertical clearance of three meters. Heavy vehicles are advised to use the alternate route via the Bulo National Road through Callagdao, Bulo, and Agbannawag.
Authorities advised motorists to remain alert, reduce speed, and obey traffic signs, warning that road hazards may persist in the affected areas.
