Police seized nearly P7 million worth of suspected shabu and arrested a high-value drug suspect during an anti-illegal drugs operation in Ormoc City on Thursday.
The Police Regional Office 8 (PRO-8) identified the suspect only as alias "Tan," 51, a driver and resident of Ormoc City who is listed as a high-value individual on the Regional Priority Target List.
Authorities conducted the operation in Barangay South, Ormoc City.
Recovered from the suspect were six heat-sealed plastic sachets, one knot-tied plastic cellophane, and one blue plastic bag wrapped with masking tape containing suspected shabu.
Police said the seized illegal drugs weighed approximately 1,029 grams and had an estimated street value of P6,997,200 based on the Dangerous Drugs Board valuation.
PRO-8 said the confiscated evidence was properly marked and inventoried at the scene in the presence of the witnesses required under the law.
Authorities are preparing charges against the suspect for alleged violation of Republic Act No. 9165.
PRO-8 also urged the public to continue reporting illegal drug activities, saying community cooperation remains essential to sustaining the government's anti-illegal drugs campaign.
