Gerry Abadiano is bringing his talent to South Korea.
The 25-year-old guard from Iloilo City formally became the latest Filipino to secure a spot in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) after signing with Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus as an Asian quota player for the 2026-2027 season.
The club announced the signing on social media last Wednesday, making Abadiano the fourth Filipino to suit up for the Mobis Phoebus after RJ Abarrientos, Miguel Oczon and Jake Figueroa.
“Gerry Abadiano signed an Asian quota contract with Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus. Please look forward to Abadiano, who will show his strength in the 26-27 season,” the club said in its social media post.
Abadiano heads to Korea following an impressive stint with San Juan in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League, where he averaged 9.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 14 games, helping the league-leading Knights compile a 13-1 record.
Prior to turning pro, Abadiano captured two University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) men’s basketball titles with the University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons in 2022 and 2024.
The Mobis Phoebus, meanwhile, are looking to bounce back after finishing eighth in the KBL with an 18-36 record last season.
A proven winner, Abadiano is expected to display his championship experience to Ulsan while setting up several intriguing matchups against fellow Filipinos in the KBL.
He is expected to face former UP teammate Carl Tamayo, who suits up for the Changwon LG Sakers, as well as former UAAP rival SJ Belangel of the Daegu KOGAS Pegasus.
