More informal settler families in Antipolo City have received land titles under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program, ending decades of uncertainty over land ownership.
The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development said beneficiaries received their titles through the Enhanced Community Mortgage Program, which allows qualified families to acquire the land they occupy under affordable payment terms.
More than 200 members of the San Isidro Labrador Homeowners Association received land titles, while more than 600 beneficiaries from Sitio Sto. Niño de Pasig were also awarded individual Transfer Certificates of Title in ceremonies facilitated by the Social Housing Finance Corp.
For many beneficiaries, the titles marked the fulfillment of a long-held dream.
“We finally have security of tenure. This is truly a tremendous help for us,” said Elme Reyz, president of the San Isidro Labrador Homeowners Association Phase 1.
Gerardo Paderes, president of the association’s Phase 2, said residents had waited more than two decades to gain legal ownership of the property they had occupied since 1995.
“Our dream of finally owning the land has become possible because of the social housing program,” Paderes said.
Housing Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling said secure land tenure gives families stability and the opportunity to pass their homes on to future generations.
“Security of tenure gives every family the assurance that they can pass on their home to the next generation,” Aliling said.
He said the Expanded 4PH Program aims to help more Filipinos acquire safe, decent, and affordable homes while strengthening communities through long-term housing security.
