Alas, which came off a bronze medal finish in the Princess Cup, was relegated in the classification round and missed the opportunity to book a ticket to the U19 World Championship next year reserved for the tournament’s semifinalists.
Ellanie Gonzalvo scored 12 of her 14 points on attacks in a losing effort for the Philippines.
Xyz Rayco and Sharina Lleses added 10 and eight points, respectively, for Alas, which was outspiked, 36-43, and outblocked, 4-13, by the quarterfinal-bound Indonesia.
The Indonesians joined Japan as the two qualifiers in Group C to the next round.
Alas tried to salvage the third set, rallying back from a 19-23 deficit to tie it at 23. The Pinay volleybelles took set point advantage, 25-24, on a Gonzalvo attack, only for the Indonesians to score consecutive points for their second match point advantage.
Gonzalvo saved a point, but a Tina Sabila Salim kill put Indonesia back in front. A Gonzalvo attack error ended the one-hour, 21-minute match.
Salim, Khanza Putri Yanzi Ganeshtri and Venisa Dwi Oktaviani had 14 points each for Indonesia. Rowina Ulfiyah Taci Azmi added 11.
