David Pardo De Ayala, general manager of Discovery Primea, has been named one of the recipients of the Philippines’ Most Eminent General Managers (Hospitality) 2026 award by CMO Global. The recognition honors exceptional hospitality leaders who exemplify excellence in leadership and management, customer and stakeholder relations, innovation and adaptability, industry recognition and sustainability.
With more than 30 years of experience across restaurants, hotels and hospitality management, GM David has built a distinguished career defined by operational excellence, innovation and a steadfast commitment to people.
GM David relocated from New York City to Manila in 1997, marking the beginning of his journey in the Philippine hospitality industry. He first made his mark by opening independent restaurants and earning a reputation as a respected culinary professional. In 2005, he joined Discovery Hospitality as corporate chef, leading menu development and culinary operations across several properties. During his tenure, three Discovery restaurants earned spots in the prestigious Miele Guide’s list of the Asia-Pacific region’s top dining destinations.
His career later evolved beyond the kitchen when he was appointed resident manager of Discovery Suites in Ortigas in 2012. Two years later, he assumed the role of general manager of Discovery Primea, where he has since overseen the property’s continued growth and success.
Over the past 12 years, GM David has led Discovery Primea in establishing itself as one of the Philippines’ premier luxury business hotels. Under his leadership, the hotel has received numerous international accolades, including Asia’s Leading Business Hotel at the World Travel Awards in 2024 and 2025, recognition among the Top City Hotels in the Philippines at the DestinAsian Readers’ Choice Awards 2026, and multiple honors from the Haute Grandeur Global Hotel Awards. In 2025, Haute Grandeur also recognized him as the Best General Manager in the Philippines.
“Having spent nearly 20 years in the kitchen before moving into hotel management, I learned early on that you cannot ask people to deliver excellence if you are not willing to do the same yourself,” he said. “The uniform may be different, but the principle remains unchanged. People watch what you do far more than what you say.”
This philosophy continues to shape Discovery Primea’s culture, where genuine care, accountability, and attention to detail remain at the heart of every guest experience.
“While we’ve been fortunate to receive many awards over the years, what I am most proud of is the trust our guests place in us,” he said. “Many have stayed with us dozens of times, and some have made Discovery Primea their home away from home. That trust is something we value deeply and work hard to earn every day.”
