Harry Kane saves England after DR Congo dominates the pitch

The former North London player scored twice to steal the lead from Les Léopards towards the end of the game.

In just 7 minutes, Almeria Left Winger Brian Cipenga opened the match with a goal to put DR Congo 1-0 up against England.

The Congolese held onto the lead until late in the game without parking the bus. The African team put a brilliant display of quality on both sides of the pitch.

Besides conceding two goals against the Bayern star striker, Lionel Mpasi-Nzau showcased a shot stopping master class against Thomas Tuchel’s side. England midfield were frustrated as they struggled to create any attacking threats in the first half.

Anthony Gordon came off the bench to replace Barcelona co-star Marcus Rashford and immediately delivered. The new Barcelona signing provided Kane 2 assists in 12 minutes to help England break through DR Congo’s defense.

The Three Lions are now one step closer to bringing it home as they advance to the Round of 16. Despite the formidable effort, the Leopards’ miracle run ends in the Round of 32.

Harry Kane now has 72 goals this season surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo’s best scoring campaign in 2014/2015, and Lionel Messi’s second-best in 2012/2023.

Belgium punishes Senegal for late game coasting

Habib Diarra scores a 24th minute tap in, putting Senegal up one against Belgium in the first half.

The Senegalese squad get their second goal in the 51st minute after Moussa Niakhate provides a diagonal ball for Crystal Palace Striker Ismaïla Sarr inside the box.

In the 86th minute, Senegal's defense started to collapse which lead to costly errors, allowing Belgium substitute Thomas Meunier to pounce on the loose ball for veteran Romelu Lukaku to score with a first time finish.

With momentum on the Red Devil's side, Youri Tillemans bags the equalizer after goalkeeper Mory Diaw's error with less than a minute left in regulation.

The Belgium squad were awarded a controversial penalty in extra time, leading to outrage from Pape Thiaw's side. Tillemans steps up to take the decisive penalty, sending Senegal home.

Belgium complete their comeback against the Lions, finishing the game 3-2. Belgium proceed to the Round of 16.

Bosnia scoreless in Seattle against USA

Tournament co-host USA faced Bosnia and Herzegovina at home. The USA Men's Soccer team dominated possession from kickoff, unleashing 5 total shot attempts in the first half alone.

Monaco Striker Folarin Balogun bag first goal for America going into halftime.

Bosnia regained control of the ball in the second half, shooting 9 times towards the United States' net, but no cigar. After a heated exchange with one of the Balkan players, first half goalscorer Balogun was sent off with a red card.

Dinamo Zagreb defender Stjepan Redeljic was booked in the 80th minute after he puts hands on American Winger Sergiño Dest outside the box. Bosnia's manager Sergej Barbarez protested against the call and also received a yellow.

The Yanks were awarded a free-kick for the foul on Dest.

Malik Tillman bends the ball over the wall and into the net for USA's second goal.

Despite the Dragons second half attacking threat, the Americans managed to pull away with the victory.

American fans are now calling for the sport to be officially renamed to soccer worldwide as USA go further into the World Cup, heading into the Round of 16 to face Belgium.
