Two suspected drug personalities, including a regional high-value target, were arrested in separate search warrant operations in La Union on July 2, with authorities seizing more than ₱129,000 worth of suspected shabu, firearms, ammunition, and a fragmentation grenade.

In Barangay Lomboy, Santo Tomas, police arrested a 44-year-old unemployed man identified as a regional high-value individual and a Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Office 1 high-value target during the implementation of Coplan "Double Edge."

The operation, conducted by the Santo Tomas Municipal Police Station with assistance from several police units and the PDEA La Union Provincial Office, resulted in the seizure of more than 17 grams of suspected shabu valued at ₱116,008. Authorities also recovered two digital weighing scales, three improvised glass tooters, two pairs of scissors, three pouches, a gray backpack, and an Honor Android mobile phone.

In a separate operation in Sitio Atay, Barangay Nagsabaran Sur, Balaoan, police arrested a 47-year-old man while implementing three search warrants at his residence.

Operatives from the Balaoan Municipal Police Station, backed by intelligence, drug enforcement, explosives and canine, and mobile force units, recovered about two grams of suspected shabu worth ₱13,600, packaged in 17 heat-sealed plastic sachets, along with assorted drug paraphernalia.

Authorities also seized a .38-caliber revolver, a 12-gauge shotgun, several rounds of live ammunition of various calibers, and a fragmentation hand grenade.

Police said all seized items were marked and inventoried at the scene in the presence of the suspects and the required witnesses before being turned over to the respective police stations for documentation and proper disposition.

The suspects are facing charges for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The Balaoan suspect will also face charges under Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, for the alleged illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
