Zambales board member eyes implementation of public beach ordinance

Zambales Board Member Carl Eric “Konsi Kuya Carl” Ballesteros Rico is eyeing the implementation of the Iba Public Beach Management Framework Ordinance of 2026 that will ensure protection of the environment, marine resources, and safety of tourists visiting the capitol town of Iba.
During a meeting held at the Municipal Hall on 30 June 2026, Rico said that the meeting aims to strengthen and enhance the said ordinance, creating a safer environment for both local and foreign tourists who frequent the town of Iba.
He said that the ordinance aims to boost the coordination of the local government with various stakeholders to effectively implement a Safety Warning Flag System, safeguarding the shores of the capitol town, and avoid incidents that would cause harm to the public.
The said meeting focused on the development of the province as Rico leads the Committee on Tourism, Culture and Arts, as well as the Committee on Sports and Youth Development.
Regarding sports and youth development, the Board Member discussed plans to further enhance the Comprehensive Sports Development Code of the Municipality of Iba. The said plan aims to provide a long-term policy that will boost sports development, athlete welfare, grassroots sports, and youth empowerment in this municipality.
He thanked the members of the Sangguniang Bayan, stakeholder representatives, and other parties who are actively providing insights on the said meeting.
“Ang bawat ordinansang ating ipinapanukala ay isang hakbang tungo sa mas ligtas, mas maunlad, at mas progresibong Bayan ng Iba,” he said.
Iba, the capital of Zambales, is a great spot to enjoy sunny beaches, rivers, and local culture. Located a short ride from the Subic Bay Freeport, it is famous for its sweet mangoes and relaxing coastal resorts.
The said town is one of the top five tourist towns in Zambales. It records over 43,000 visitors during peak periods. The town serves as a key provincial center. It features many hotels, beaches, and nature spots.
