World Cellar, Araneta City's wine destination at Gateway Mall 2, has received the Award of Excellence at the 2026 Wine Spectator Restaurant Awards, recognizing the quality of its wine program and curated selection.
The annual awards, presented by Wine Spectator, recognize restaurants and wine cellars worldwide for excellence in wine selection, presentation, and service.
According to the publication, the Award of Excellence is given to establishments whose wine lists feature "a well-chosen assortment of quality producers" that complement their menus in both price and style while offering enough variety for discerning wine enthusiasts.
World Cellar houses around 2,000 bottles representing approximately 400 wine labels from established wine regions. Located on Level 4 of Gateway Mall 2, it can accommodate more than 60 guests inside its wine lounge while also serving customers dining throughout World Kitchens.
The establishment is led by resident sommelier Benedict Tan, who holds a Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 3 certification in wines.
More than 4,000 restaurants across over 85 countries were recognized in this year's Wine Spectator Restaurant Awards. Only 15 establishments in the Philippines, including World Cellar, received the Award of Excellence. Higher distinctions include the Best of Award of Excellence and the Grand Award.
World Cellar offers wines by the glass or bottle, with prices kept close to retail through direct partnerships with local wine merchants. The wines are stored under controlled conditions and may be paired with dishes from the 15 dining concepts at World Kitchens.
Beyond its wine selection, World Cellar also promotes wine appreciation through weekly Wine 101 classes held every Friday and monthly themed wine dinners featuring curated food and wine pairings.
World Cellar is located within World Kitchens, which has also received industry recognition, including the Food & Beverage Retailer of the Year – Philippines award at the 2025 Retail Asia Awards, as well as honors from the Marketing Excellence Awards, Retail & Leisure International Awards, and Cosmopolitan Lifestyle Awards.
