Amazon has agreed to pay $2.25 million to settle US government claims that it failed to provide identity theft victims with records needed to dispute fraudulent purchases, according to Bloomberg.

The settlement follows a Federal Trade Commission investigation into allegations that Amazon violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act by not providing business transaction records requested by customers whose identities had been used fraudulently. Under the agreement, Amazon must provide the records free of charge within 30 days of receiving a request.
