VinFast, V-Green, VinEnergo and Green GSM are giving more than P50 million in relief support to areas hit by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Mindanao on 8 June.
The aid will go to local governments and families affected by the disaster, with General Santos City, Sarangani and Davao Occidental among the main beneficiaries.
Under the relief program, General Santos City and Sarangani Province will each receive P20 million. Davao Occidental will receive P10 million.
The funds will support recovery work chosen by local authorities, including programs tied to basic services, rehabilitation and community needs.
The companies will also provide P100,000 in financial assistance for each person who died in the quake.
The earthquake hit offshore near Mindanao and caused heavy damage in parts of Southern Philippines, especially in Soccsksargen and the Davao Region.
Government updates and news reports placed the death toll at more than 40 in the days after the quake, with hundreds injured and several people still reported missing.
The Office of Civil Defense said on 11 June that the number of deaths being verified had reached 47, with 688 injured and 31 missing.
The disaster also forced thousands of residents to leave their homes. Reuters reported that authorities were still checking fatality reports and assessing damage shortly after the quake struck.
The quake damaged homes, schools, roads, bridges and other public structures. It also disrupted classes and public services in several areas.
The Philippine News Agency reported that casualties were concentrated in Regions 11 and 12.
Dao Quy Phi, director of investment and external relations of Vingroup in the Philippines, said the companies are extending help to local authorities and communities after the losses suffered in Mindanao.
“The losses suffered by the people of Mindanao as a result of this earthquake are immense,” Dao said in the company statement. He said the participating firms see their support as a way to add resources to the recovery work already underway.
VinFast, V-Green, VinEnergo and Green GSM said the program will be carried out throughout June 2026 in coordination with local governments in the affected areas.
The companies said the assistance forms part of their commitment to communities in the Philippines, where Vietnamese firms under the Vingroup network have been expanding their operations.
VinFast is known for its electric vehicles. V-Green operates in the charging infrastructure, while VinEnergo is involved in energy solutions. Green GSM runs electric mobility services.
The relief package adds to the public and private sector response to the Mindanao quake, which hit communities at the start of the school year and left local governments dealing with damaged facilities, displaced residents and continuing recovery needs.
