Rising tennis star Alex Eala has a packed season ahead.
From being the first Filipino to be seeded at a Grand Slam at 29 for the Wimbledon, Eala is also expected to appear in the US Open doubles exhibition.
The 21-year-old's Wimbledon journey begins on Tuesday, 30 June as she takes on Mexico’s Renata Zarazua, who is currently ranked 76th.
The two met for the first time on the hard surface through the W100 Cary, North Carolina in August 2024, where the Mexican outlasted the Filipina, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.
They also played doubles in the French Open 2025.
Eala is also set to compete in the doubles category of Wimbledon, where she will be playing alongside Nikola Bartunkova of Czech Republic.
The Czech and Filipina combo recently played against each other in the Birmingham Open with Eala coming out on top as the champion, 5-7, 6-3, 7-5.
The pair also played doubles in the said tournament but fell to home bets Harriet Dart and Maia Lumsden.
They will open their doubles campaign in the Grand Slam event on 2 July against Jelena Ostapenko and Sofia Kenin.
Prior to the much-anticipated Grand Slam event, Eala was seen practicing with her friend Zeynep Sönmez of Turkiye.
With Wimbledon marking the end of the grass season, the hard surface is slowly making its way to the players' systems.
US Open announced that Eala will be playing in a mixed doubles exhibition with Brazil's Joao Fonseca, and Americans Iva Jovic and Learner Tien.
Named "Stars of the Open," the exhibition match features players who are from the same age range, as the four players' average age falls at 19.
This marks the first time that Fonseca and Eala will be teaming up to play in doubles, while it is not Eala's first time to face Jovic on the court.
According to US Open, the proceeds of the tournament will go to USTA Foundation.
