Construction worker found dead in remote area of Barangay Zamboanga in Laoag City

The body of a 38-year-old construction worker was found Sunday morning in a remote grassy area of Barangay 44, Zamboanga, Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, prompting an investigation by authorities.
Police said they received a report of a found cadaver at around 9:02 a.m. on June 28. Responding personnel proceeded to a location approximately 100 meters from the barangay road, where they found the body of an unidentified male wearing green shorts.
The victim was initially unidentified. However, as funeral personnel were retrieving the body, several residents recognized a tattoo on the victim and informed his family, who later confirmed that the deceased was Jayson Ramos, a resident of Barangay Zamboanga.
According to his family, Ramos was single, worked as a construction laborer, and had failed to return home before his body was discovered.
Initial observations indicated that Ramos sustained a head injury, while several parts of his body also bore wounds. Authorities have yet to determine the cause of death and the circumstances surrounding the injuries.
The Laoag City Police Station has launched an investigation to determine what led to the victim’s death.
