A Chinese national and three Filipinos were arrested in two separate establishments in Bataan for allegedly selling and distributing unregistered household aerosol insecticides, authorities said.
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)-Bataan District Office (BATADO) said the suspects were apprehended on 26 May for violations of Republic Act (RA) 9711, or the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009.
The operation stemmed from an intelligence report received from a confidential informant about establishments in the province allegedly selling unregistered household and urban hazardous substances.
NBI agents conducted a test-buy operation, after which the samples were submitted to the Food and Drug Administration. The FDA later confirmed that the products were unregistered.
On 26 May, joint entrapment and inspection operations were carried out by NBI-BATADO and Food and Drug Regulation Officers from the FDA Regulatory Enforcement Unit–North Luzon Cluster in Orani and Abucay, Bataan.
The operation led to the arrest of four individuals and the seizure of various unregistered household and urban hazardous products with an estimated value of about P120,000.
The arrested suspects were brought before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor in Bataan for inquest proceedings for violations of the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, as amended by RA 9711.
