Soobin of Tomorrow X Together (TXT) shared a frustrating experience involving a taxi overcharging incident during his recent vacation in Cebu.

The K-pop idol documented his short getaway—where he stayed in Mactan resorts—in a vlog uploaded on the group’s official YouTube channel on Wednesday.

While most of the trip was smooth and enjoyable, one moment stood out after he and a friend nearly fell victim to an inflated taxi fare.

Before leaving the airport, Soobin said they had already checked the estimated cost of their ride, which was around P300.

Recalling advice from fellow member Taehyun, who had previously visited Cebu, Soobin joked about how to deal with potential overcharging by “acting angry” if needed.

However, upon approaching a taxi, the driver initially quoted them P500—already higher than expected. Though hesitant, the pair agreed to the price due to travel fatigue.

The situation escalated mid-ride when the driver suddenly raised the fare to P1,000.

“Did you hear that? I’m reporting this. Just now, he said P1,000. I mean, P500 is already pushing it… and then he raises it to P1,000,” Soobin said while filming the encounter.

Despite informing the driver that the interaction was being recorded, the driver allegedly insisted on the higher amount upon reaching their hotel.

“Once we arrived, the driver tried to charge us P1,000 again… but we told him firmly that we were only going to pay P500,” he said, stressing that they stood by the originally agreed fare.

Soobin also made it clear that the clip would remain unedited to serve as a warning to fellow travelers.

“Don’t edit this part out,” he said in the vlog.

In the end, the pair paid P500 and avoided further escalation. Despite the incident, Soobin remained composed and continued to enjoy his Cebu trip, even taking time to meet Filipino fans.

The vlog has since gained attention online, with many viewers expressing concern and apologizing for the experience, while also commending the idol for speaking up.
