Davao City - Former President and City Mayor of Davao Rodrigo Duterte’s lighted picture was displayed at the City Hall’s neoclassical facade during the opening ceremonies of the 89th Araw ng Dabaw on Sunday1 at the Rizal Park grounds.
People clapped upon seeing the former President's lighted face and uttered his famous line “Akoy Magpablin na Inyong Soluguonon,” (I will always be at your service) in which people chanted “Duterte, Duterte, Duterte” while others yelled “bring him home.”
Earlier, Vice Mayor Rigo Duterte led the launch of the 100 Years City Hall Centennial Stamps at 7:35 p.m., joined by other city officials.
There were also live performances of local artists and the presentation of the 2026 Mutya ng Dabaw candidates.
In the morning, the launching of the Green Rise Action and Hope for 2028 was also launched, a movement organizers described as a nationwide show of unity anchored on the values of “Tapang and Malasakit”
The motorcade departed from Freedom Park along Roxas Street with some hundreds taking part wearing green and displaying ribbons as part of the campaign dubbed “Tie Green Ribbons: Tie the Knot of Hope.”
